Preface

This guide serves two purposes. It provides user instructions for the Oracle Trace graphical user interface, and it describes Oracle Trace service routines and how to add them to an application for the purpose of collecting event data.

Audience

This guide is divided into two parts for different audiences.

Part I is written for Oracle Trace users who want to set up data collection using the Oracle Trace Manager application, the graphical user interface for Oracle Trace. Users of Part I should be familiar with database terminology.

Part II is written for application developers who want to add Oracle Trace service routines to their own applications, for the purpose of collecting performance data. Developers using Part II should be familiar with programming terminology, in particular C++.
