Software Manager Setup



This chapter discusses setting up the Oracle Software Manager.

Note:
Before you can set up the Oracle Software Manager, the Oracle Enterprise Manager must be installed and configured correctly.

Setting Up Software Manager

To setup the Oracle Software Manager, perform the following steps:

1.
Register Event Sets to accept third party events.
a.
Double-click the Enterprise Manager icon from the Oracle Enterprise Manager program group.
b.
When the Login Information dialog box appears, enter your username, password, and repository service name.
c.
In the Event Management Window, click on the Event Set Library tab.
d.
Double-click Oracle Host Up/Down.
e.
On the Event Set Library page, check Accept Third Party Events.
Note: In order for Software Manager to designate a distribution host, the Oracle Intelligent Agent must already be installed and configured. Refer to Chapter 2, Agent Configuration for further information.
2.
Select Host Up/Down event on distribution hosts.
a.
In the Registration Property Sheet General page, select Node as the Service Type.
b.
Select Host UpDown as the Set Name.
c.
Select a host from the Available Destinations column to add to the Selected Destinations column.
d.
Click OK.
e.
Click the Registration tab to verify all of the hosts are configured correctly. The hosts should appear under Oracle Host UpDown.
f.
After the registration, open Oracle Software Manager by clicking its toolbar icon. You should start the Software Manager console at lease once to initialize various state information.
3.
Refresh hosts.
a.
In Oracle Enterprise Manager, select Create Job from the Jobs menu.
b.
In the General Page of the Job Property Sheet, enter refresh all hosts in the Job Name field.
c.
Select Node as the destination type.
d.
Select all available hosts.
e.
Click the Task tab on the Property Sheet.
f.
When the Task Page of the Property Sheet appears, select Refresh Hosts.
g.
Click the Submit button.
h.
From the Job Scheduling Services window, select Job History to view the status of the hosts.
