APPENDIX C. Product Limitations

This appendix discusses some of the limitations of the Enterprise Backup Utility.

Support for Oracle Parallel Server

The current version of the Enterprise Backup Utility supports Oracle Parallel Server, though it cannot take full advantage of MPP machines. The Enterprise Backup Utility lacks the ability to spawn concurrent jobs on multiple nodes of the machine.

All EBU operations must be performed from the same node. Backups performed from different nodes cannot be aggregated into a single restore.

Restarting of failed jobs

This version of the Enterprise Backup Utility does not provide support for restarting failed jobs. If any part of a job fails, the entire job is cleaned up and must be re-started. Future versions of the Enterprise Backup Utility will include checkpoints and will be able to restart failed jobs from the last successful checkpoint.

Renaming Files After Restoring to New Location

EBU does not rename files after restoring them to a new location (with the remap specifier).
